Assistant Practice Manager
Kayla has been working at Family Pet since May of 2020. Her passion for animals and working within the animal industry comes from her childhood. She says, "My Grandma Katherine used to rescue both cats and dogs off the street and bring them home to nurture them before finding a forever home. Before I could even walk I had two dogs of my own - a Black Lab named Crystal and a Chow Chow named Chona." Kayla grew up in Ankeny and graduated high school in 2013. From there, she went on to the University of Northern Iowa. She became the first one from her family to graduate college right out of high school when she graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Minor in Creative Writing. You can find Kayla reading, writing, studying Genealogy, or being around Family in her spare time. Although, most of her spare time is occupied by her two cats a home: Ariel, a 4-year-old domestic shorthair orange tabby and Belle, a 1-year-old domestic shorthair tortishelle.
Kayla's future goals within the animal industry currently include completing the Technician's program she is enrolled in and getting her Veterinary Technician's Degree. She believes in doing whatever's necessary to heal and maintain the health of animals both big and small. The process of healing is one that she is most fascinated with. She enjoys seeing the recovery that animals can make from even the most serious injury using proper and effective veterinary care. Kayla knows that the look of love that your feline, canine, or even reptilian friend gives you when you come home at the end of a day of hard work is so worth it.
