In 2015, Kourtney Chance embarked on her journey in the veterinary field as a part-time receptionist. Over the years, her dedication and passion for animal care propelled her through various roles, culminating in her current position as the Practice Manager at Family Pet Veterinary Center in West Des Moines and Norwalk.
Kourtney’s contributions to her clinic and the veterinary profession are nothing short of remarkable. Leading by example, she conducts monthly positive team meetings, fostering an environment where team members are encouraged to excel in their roles. Her commitment to the clinic’s smooth operation is evident as she steps in to cover for absent staff, regardless of the position, ensuring uninterrupted service for their clients.
A mentor to many, Kourtney has facilitated veterinary technician internships and welcomed inexperienced team members, nurturing their growth. She advocates for continuous learning and is certified as a Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional and Fear Free Certified, underscoring her commitment to the highest standards of care.
Beyond her clinic, Kourtney extends her love for animals through fostering and volunteering for Oh My Dog Rescue and Paws N Claws. Her advocacy doesn’t stop at rescue; she educates new pet owners on the significance of regular veterinary care, dental procedures, nutrition, and preventative measures. Kourtney goes above and beyond, connecting owners with rescues willing to take in pets facing euthanasia due to unaffordable medical issues. Kourtney’s emphasis on building meaningful relationships with clients is central to her approach. By fostering these connections, she imparts valuable knowledge, empowering pet owners to provide optimal care for their beloved companions.
